TREATMENTS AND PROCEDURES
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine Insemination also known as artificial insemination, is a simple procedure that is usually recommended for those women with healthy, patent fallopian tubes but unable to conceive due to various reasons.
In Vitro Fertilization or IVF is recommended if the expert doctor rules out the possibility of conception through natural or IUI procedures. The very popular, colloquial name for the babies born through IVF is ‘test tube babies’.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection known as ICSI in its short form is a procedure in which each single sperm is directly injected into the egg, for fertilization.
The laser assisted hatching is an advanced and sophisticated additional lab technique designed to improve the efficiency of assisted reproductive technology procedures such as IVF/ICSI.
Under this technique, the women’s mature eggs or oocytes will be preserved by using either a controlled-rate or slow-cooling method known as vitrification. Similarly, a man’s sperm cells can also be frozen and preserve them for using in future.
IVF with donor eggs is procedure of collection of eggs from other women instead of collecting from female partner of infertile couple and these eggs will be used for IVF or ICSI. This procedure usually referred if there are any physiological or pathological factors associated with ovaries.
It is natural for all couples to have a child of their own but in a very few instances, fertilization attempts may not yield desired results. In such cases, embryo donation is an exciting new option that is being made available in modern infertility treatments.
Surrogacy is not an alien term in India anymore. It has become quite popular in the last few years and has come like a boon for countless number of childless couples. Surrogacy or being a surrogate mother is an arrangement in which a healthy woman carries and delivers a child for another couple or person.
Andrology deals with male reproductive health besides urological problems. The specialist in this area will perform corrective surgeries related to connective tissues of male genitalia, vasectomy, vasovasostomy etc. It also primarily deals with male infertility, sexual dysfunction etc.
Endometrial Receptivity Array is a genetic testing that is done by retrieving a small sample of endometrial lining from a woman’s uterus to determine the correct day for facilitating an embryo transfer during an IVF cycle.
Uterine Transplantation is a very recent breakthrough in the world of reproductive medicine and organ transplant, a boon for those girls who have not attained puberty in their life and are not having menstruation (medically called primary and secondary Amenorrhea). Absence of menstruation could be due to the underdeveloped or absence of the secondary reproductive organs.
Getting diagnosed with cancer at a younger age should never serve as a deterrent for becoming a parent and making a dream into reality. Oncofertility and fertility preservation are designed, taking into consideration of the reproductive desire of cancer patients who come out cured after treatment.
