Dr. Swathi Prakash is a highly skilled breast surgeon with expertise in diagnosing and treating both benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) breast diseases. Her capabilities encompass a range of conditions, including breast pain, fibroadenoma, uncertain breast lesions, breast cancer in both genders, risk reduction strategies for high-risk patients prone to familial breast cancer, phyllodes, and addressing psychosocial follow-up/survivorship issues in breast cancer patients. She focuses on enhancing the quality of life through compassionate patient care.

She demonstrates a strong commitment to ongoing learning, keeping abreast of advancements in medical research and technology. Her proficiency extends to utilizing diagnostic tools such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI for precise breast imaging and interpretation.

Dr. Swathi holds the distinction of being the first in Tamil Nadu to attain the MCh degree in the specialty of Breast surgery. Her training included rotations across various disciplines related to breast health, providing exposure to diverse patient management strategies at AIIMS, New Delhi. Additionally, she has contributed to the National Institute of Cancer Prevention & Research (NICPR), Noida, participating in Breast Cancer Screening and educating healthcare professionals through video conferences about self-breast examination and proper patient referral management.

Her expertise is in breast cancer screening, vacuum assisted excision of fibroadenoma, breast lesion excision biopsy, ultrasound guided aspiration and drainage of breast abscess, breast preservation surgery and reconstruction(oncoplasty), wire localisation excisions for non-palpable early breast cancer, modified radical mastectomy, skin/nipple sparing mastectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy using nuclear colloid or spycamera.
