Brief Profile

Dr. Shanmuga Priya has graduated her MBBS degree from the prestigious Madras Medical college where she holds distinction in pathology and microbiology; also holds honours in pharmacology. She has spanned her postgraduate degree from SRM Institute of Medical Sciences.

Her interests in the field of fertility, brought her to the fellowship in reproductive medicine at Apollo hospitals. She is currently in the OBGYN department at Rela hospital.

• She is a strong advocate of the natural birthing process, and believes that the use of invasive procedures and medication should be approached as secondary tool – to be used as needed. Keenly focused in minimising caesarean section rates while providing services towards painless labour
• She has conducted innumerable number of deliveries including normal, instrumental, Vbac and caesarean deliveries
• She also does High risk Obstetrics, expanding the scope of practice
