Dr. C. Kolandasamy is a highly experienced surgical gastroenterologist with over 24 years of practice and 50,000+ gastrointestinal procedures, including complex hernia repairs, gastrointestinal cancer surgeries, and liver transplants. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive and advanced GI surgeries, having performed Tamil Nadu’s first Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Oesophagectomy (VATS) in a government medical college hospital (2014). He also played a key role in establishing the liver transplant program at a leading medical college hospital in Chennai (2017–2024).
Dr. Kolandasamy’s expertise spans robotic and advanced laparoscopic GI & HPB surgeries, single-incision laparoscopic surgery, complex hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction (AWR), and major gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary procedures. He successfully performed the first Robotic Total Gastrectomy for GI cancer and the first Robotic complex hernia/AWR surgeries at Rela Hospital, Chennai.
He has conducted extensive research on managing complex gastroenterological conditions and undergone advanced training in robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. Dedicated to patient care and improving surgical outcomes, Dr. Kolandasamy delivers high-quality, evidence-based surgical care. His innovation, expertise, and commitment continue to make a significant contribution to the field of surgical gastroenterology.
